2023 Ram 1500
Since 1981, the Ram 1500 has been one of the leading pickup trucks in the North American market. There’s plenty of anticipation around the new 2023 Ram 1500, which should come out by the end of the year. While you can’t still get your hands on it, you can have a peek inside the newest pickup truck in the market. Read more in this review.
Changes from the 2022 Ram 1500
Although the 2023 Ram 1500 brings improvements in tech and design, there are no fundamental “changes” in the new lineup. However, new trims and special editions like RED and Elite are expected. There are also improvements in the gauge cluster, which is now considerably bigger: it’s a 12-inch touchscreen display with over 20 options.
New tech features include off-road cruise control (Speed Control) and a heads-up display, which projects your speed and other relevant information on the windshield. The Speed Control is available in the Off-Road Group and BackCountry Package.
Safety features such as blindspot monitoring, automatic brake assist, and forward collision warning remained from the 2022 version. There are also new all-terrain 22-inch tires available for the Limited, Limited Longhorn and Laramie.
Key features
The new Ram 1500 has more interior space than its predecessor and the largest interior storage volume in the market. Backseats can recline up to 8 degrees and are climatized. Additionally, they come with extra under-seat storage, tie-down rings, flat-load floor, and RamBins. There’s also a class-exclusive cargo management system, the RamBox. Other features include a multifunctional tailgate, bed divider, and relocatable anchor points.
Models and pricing
Although Ram’s official website is already advertising the new line, there isn’t any accurate price information yet. However, we know which will be available, and it’s already possible to make a pre-order. The trims are from the entry level to the top tier: Tradesman, Tradesman HFE, Big Horn/Lone Star, Laramie, Rebel, Limited Longhorn, Limited, and TRX.
Performance and towing capacity
The new Ram 1500 comes with four engines: 3.6-L eTorque Pentastar V-6, 5.7-L eTorque HEMI V-8, 3.0-L EcoDiesel V-6, and 6.2-L HEMI V-8. The first option has 269 lb-ft of torque capacity and 305hp. The 5.7-L HEMI V-8 with eTorque delivers 410 lb-ft of torque capacity and 395hp. The 3.0L EcoDiesel V-6 has 480 lb-ft of torque capacity, and 260hp, while the 6.2-L HEMI V-8 is the most powerful one: 650 lb-ft of torque and 702hp. The towing capacity goes up to 5,783kg and 1,043kg of payload, depending on the engine.
Release Date and Pre-Order
The 2023 Ram 1500 is expected to hit the road by the end of this year. It’s already possible to find information about its features on Nissan’s website. However, you’ll have to remain patient when it comes to prices.
