2023 Jeep Gladiator
The 2023 Jeep Gladiator is the newest pickup truck in a market full of heavyweights. Still, Jeep fans won’t be disappointed with this year’s lineup, which is even more powerful and sophisticated than the previous one.
Updates for 2023
The 2023 Jeep Gladiator comes with plenty of enhancements in both internal and external features. There’s also a new package for high altitude called the Capability Package, which includes an off-road front camera, steel rock rails, and a steel front bumper. There’s also a new colour available: High Velocity Yellow, which is replacing Snazzberry.
Models and pricing
This lineup has six trims, one less than the previous year’s version. They are the Sport S ($54,385 starting price), the Wyllis ($59,430), the Overland ($61,090), the Rubicon ($62,690), the Mojave ($62,690), and the High Altitude ($70,980).
Features & Specs
As usual for Jeeps, all trims are surrounded by numerous tech and safety features. For the Gladiator, these include a 7-inch in-cluster display and a 7-inch touchscreen display (upgradable to 8.4-inch) with UConnect 4; upper trims come with UConnect 4C NAV. While the Sport S and the Wyllis come with an 8-speaker sound system, upper trims come with an Alpine Premium sound system.
Safety features include airbags and many driving assists, like blindspot monitoring, lane-keep and lane-departure warnings, adaptive cruise control, and more.
Interior & Exterior
The interior design of this lineup is quite sophisticated, no matter which trim you choose. Basic models come with high-end cloth upholstery, upgraded to leather in the upper trims. The Overland and higher trims also have their logos displayed on the upholstery. The driver’s seat has six different configurations, with a two-way lumbar adjustment. All trims have foldable rear seats. The Wyllis and higher trims come with automatic climate control.
As for exterior features, every trim has a black top, except for High Altitude, which comes with a body-colour top. It also has another exclusive feature: automatic LED headlamps; the other trims come with automatic halogen headlamps.
Performance, Off-Road and Towing Capacity
There are two types of engines available: a 3.6L Pentastar VVT V6 and a 3.0L EcoDiesel V6. The Pentastar comes with either a 6-speed or an 8-speed automatic transmission, while the EcoDiesel comes with an 8-speed eTorqueFlite automatic transmission.
The Pentastar delivers a torque capacity of 260 lb-ft and 285 hp. Trims using this engine can tow up to 775kg, with a maximum payload of 3,492kg, in the Max Towing Package. The EcoDiesel has 260hp and 442 lb-ft of torque, with a towing capacity of 2,948kg.
There’s a slight variation in fuel efficiency from one trim to another, ranging from 8.5L/100km and 10.4L/100km on highways to 10.8L/100km and 14.3L/100km in cities.
